Embodied Pilates Explorations is a series of workshops that focus on developing an understanding of somatic practices, embodied anatomy and a developmental perspective of movement. Uncover the language of your body through your personal felt experience. Cultivate curiosity, mindfulness and authenticity, and find more ease and flow in your Pilates practice and life.      
Who is this workshop for? Those who are interested in a deeper understanding of their body, and are interested in looking at movement not as something we do but as a fundamental part of who we are.

Saturday May 5th
Early Moves, Lifelong Wisdom: Growing Essential Connections
12pm-2pm  
Get ready for an inspiring journey into the world of developmental patterns and early movement experiences. Reconnecting with these in our grown- up bodies adds more coordination, mobility, and strength to our fitness routines. This is also where we address the needs of our nervous system and cultivate a sense of ease and belonging within ourselves.       Somatic practices invite us to slow down, tune in and grow our mindfulness  free from outside expectations. We learn how to listen to our body. It has a lot to say!      Get ready for aha moments – it's not about right or wrong moves or strong/weak muscles. Instead, it's about recognizing that everything circles back to those foundational patterns that organize you from the inside out and ground up. You will begin to see them in everything you do including your Pilates practice.
Dynamic Foundations: Foot to Pelvis Integrations  2:30pm-5pm    
Gain new insights into alignment and movement through understanding the embryological growth of your feet, legs, and pelvis, and the role of developmental movement.    Through a blend of somatics, embodied anatomy and Pilates exercises, we'll delve into organizing  the lower body. This approach creates efficient alignment, offering support to the muscles and nervous system. Enjoy exploring the relationships between the bones in your foot, leg, and pelvis, nurturing hip freedom and  balance. Uncover how these connections enhance the mobility of your spine and contribute to the overall health and well-being of your spinal structure.
Sunday May 6th
Reclaiming Ease: Organizing the Upper Body 12pm-2:30pm  
 
The upper body often carries tension, stress, and misalignment. We might try to alleviate this through stretching, over-stabilizing, or posture “correction”—often resulting in increased tension. Explore fresh perspectives on organizing the upper body. Understand the developmental relationship between your hands, shoulders, ribs, and spine to foster connection and support in weight-bearing, reaching, and pulling. Experience a delightful sense of ease and flow by supporting the neuromuscular system through an understanding of the developmental movement process, moving beyond the notion of merely 'fixing' it." You will then dive into the exploration of this awakened body intelligence during your Pilates practice.
Embodied Insight: Heart, Lungs, and Alignment 3-5pm    
Lets explore the remarkable relationship between our organs and overall well-being. We'll dive into understanding how the heart and lungs  relate to the upper body, and create support within the body as a whole. Learn why the heart is called the little brain and how our organs influence our alignment. Through hands-on experiences, embodied anatomy, and somatic practices, we'll appreciate the 'mind' of our organs, recognizing posture as an expression not just of physical conditions but also of our emotional and mental states.  Embodying these insights brings a grounding effect to your entire being.
